Robert Burns Duets/Songs
Duets and trios arranged for fiddlers from the songs of Robert Burns.
Robert Burns (1759- 1796) was a master poet and song writer as well as a great collector of tunes and words. It is not such a well known fact that he had a great love of the fiddle and its melodies. It is understood that he himself played the instrument in an amatuer fashion. The airs used by Burns for his poems were often the popular instrumental tunes of his day though he did use tunes from older collections and often turned to the compositions of Neil Gow. With the rise in poularity of Burns Suppers, and with more and more demand for the service of fiddlers of all ages and stages to provide entertainment, it is highly appropriate that the fiddle should be part of these, and other occasions for celebration these days. This book of fiddle duets gives musicians the opportunity to play solo or together with singers and accompanied by guitar or piano. Lyrics of the songs are included and guitar chords and bowings. A Cd of all the tunes is available and each tune is played twice. The second time only fiddle one plays so that the harmony can be played as accompaniment to make your own duet.
