Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen (lyrics)
When I was a lad, a tiny wee ladMy mother said to meCome see the Northern Lights my boyThey're bright as they can beShe called them the heavenly dancersMerry dancers in the skyI'll never forget, that wonderful sightThey made the heavens bright
Chorus: The Northern Lights of old AberdeenMean home sweet home to me The Northern Lights of old AberdeenAre what I long to seeI’ve been a wanderer all of my lifeAny many a sight I've seenGod speed the day when l' m on my way To my home in Aberdeen
I've wandered in many far-off landsAnd travelled many a mileI've missed the folk I cherished most The joy of a friendly smileIt warms up the heart of a wand'rerThe clasp of a welcoming handTo greet me when, I returnHome to my native land
Chorus
