Whistle O'er the Lave O't (audio)

This tune is attributed to John Bruce by Burns. Bruce was born in Braemar and later taken prisoner in Edinburgh during the 1745 rising.

The tune is associated with the youngest of the Highland Dances the Seann Triubhais and is popular on the pipes for Highland dancing still today.

It was devised after Culloden when the wearing of the kilt was forbidden and men wore tartan trews instead.
